  • OPEN DAY POTTERY WORKSHOPS IN MANISES- EUROPEAN ARTISTIC CRAFT DAYS. April the 2nd.

    On the occasion of the European Artistic Craft Days, and as a prelude to the “CERAMIC FESTIVAL IN JULY” an Open Day will be held in a selected group of ceramic workshops of Manises.

    A) Arturo Mora- Lustre ware ceramic workshop- He is a descendant from a family of Manises’ potters (XIX century). Nowadays it is the only workshop that reproduces the technique of lustre ware ceramics in Manises (an Arabic technique from the ninth century). His work focuses on making reproductions of fifteenth and sixteenth century lustreware ceramics and to use this technique in contemporary ceramics.

    B) Ceràmiques Pepe Royo Royo workshop – José Alcaraz is a craftsman specialized in traditional ceramic of the S.XVIIIc : albahaqueras, crafts, vases and Art Ceramics.

    C) The Valencian Association of Ceramic AVEC-GUILD- in the headquarters Association we will have demonstrations and participatory workshops on different ceramic techniques by craftsmen and potters from the ANPEC (National Association of Professional Ceramics) and AVEC-Guild members:
    -Pottery on the wheel by Drac Ceramic Manises
    -Porcelain flowers by Porcelanas Mercedes
    -Wicker ceramic technique by Vicente Martinez Saura and Tomas Saez García.
    -Decoration pieces by Antonio Cordero Herrera.
    -Socarrat technique- participatory workshop for children (with Ana Delicado Martínez and Rodríguez Teruel Viqui).

  • CERAMIC FESTIVAL IN MANISES (VALENCIA). JULY 16-17-18th

    A unique show in the world, from floats thousands of ceramic items of the local craftsmanship are given out to the visitors.

    On the 16th and 17th July ceramics joins the party in Manises (Valencia) and Craftsmen of Manises left their workshops and go out onto the street to show visitors their art., turning the city in a amazing craftsmanship stage.
    For two days ceramics is the main part of the festivities showing the way ceramics are made by hand and a full range of techniques and procedures.
    On the 18th of July Manises offer a unique show in the world, from floats thousands of ceramic items of the local craftsmanship are given out to the visitors
    As matter stands Manises ceramics has its origins in 1238, it was during the reign of Jaime II when the Manises’ domain became part of the Boïl Family, who promoted and boosted Manises ceramics, introducing the golden and blue ceramics imported from the Andalusian muslims.

    Visitors have the opportunity to put all they have seen into practice and go to home with their own creation, or to purchase a craftsman’s piece in one of the Manises’ ceramics stores.
